We’ve all been there! We have been judged and we have passed judgement on others. If we could live a life free of judgement, we can live a liberated life. Here’s what I believe is the path to living a life of liberation.
It all starts with awareness! Once we are made aware of something within ourselves or about ourselves, whether we perceive it to be a good thing or a negative thing, it is our responsibility to try to understand the origin of that thought or feeling. When we understand the origin then we have a choice to make. We can choose to accept it or reject it. When we accept what is, then we accept who we are. We then choose to love ourselves. Before we can truly love others to the fullest we must be able to love ourselves. If I only have 50% love of myself, that’s all I can give to others. Becoming aware of who we are and where we are on our journey in life helps us to understand others.
In the process of building a relationship with a person we have recently met, we may have a tendency to judge that person based on couple of brief conversations. People may turn us off for one reason or another. They say when you don’t like something in another person, it is usually a reflection of something within and about yourself. That’s a tough pill to swallow! But how true it is! If we take the time to become aware of who other people are and where they are on their journey, it would help us to better understand that person. Now that we have an understanding of where that person is on their journey, we can choose to accept or reject that relationship. In choosing to accept that relationship, we choose to love and with love there is no judgement. There is only freedom.
So next time you are in a situation when you about to pass judgement on someone or on yourself for that matter think about the words you just read and then in silence and to yourself say these words; “I love and accept myself for who I am and where I am on my journey in life and I love and accept that other person for who they are and where they are on their journey in life.”
It’s a liberating feeling! Try it and feel free to let me know how it changes your perspective on living a life free of judgement.
Til next time….
